February Update 1: Gift Hunter Club/Crowdflower, Proofreading, Clickworker…

Thought an update’s due on how things are going for me this month.

It’s been a good 10/11 days. I’ve made close to $200 so far.

This is the first full month where I’ll be doing the extra hours I mentioned previously. So my earnings are set to increase quite a bit compared to last month. Last month, I made $110.42 proofreading. This month, I’ve already made over $150.00. To explain, this is from the one gig, but consists of income from:

– anytime I log in at my leisure and there’s work

– hours I’ve signed up for/committed myself to do (extra hours)

So, one is flexible, while the other is shift based. But it’s the same job.

I make more during shifts as there’s an hourly rate, so it’s accounted for about two-thirds of what I’ve made this month.

For anyone interested in joining the site, who feels they’re qualified, I’ve written in detail about it. Read the following post first, then if you’d like more info, that post tells you what to do. / To be clear, if you decide to apply for the gig, it won’t be for shift work. It’ll be for the other option I mentioned. You log in when you want and wait for work as, if and when it comes.

OK, moving on…

Gift Hunter Club/Crowdflower tasks…

Quick recap:

Crowdflower is a company that divvies up lots of short tasks amongst lots of people. I guess the premise is that a mass job gets done much quicker if a lot of folks do a bit each, rather than a handful of people trying to manage the workload and taking a good while.

This is commonly known as crowdsourcing and Crowdflower isn’t the only company that does this. There’s Amazon Mechanical Turk, Microworkers and Clickworker, for instance.

(I said this was gonna be a quick recap, right?!)

Anyway, so Crowdflower tasks can be found on a number of GPTs (get paid to) sites including Clixsense, Cashle and Gift Hunter Club. I’m supposing these sites get a cut which is why they host it.

My preferred GPT platform for doing Crowdflower tasks is Gift Hunter Club.

Last month, I made $77.00 on Gift Hunter Club, most of which was via Crowdflower tasks I did. | (read more about CF tasks and Gift Hunter Club)

This month, I’ve made $37.00 so far – so I might beat last month’s figure. I think I can.

I mentioned in my last post that I wanted to add a third earning strand this month and would look at Clickworker (similar to Crowdflower).

I signed up to Clickworker a few years ago. Used it intermittently, then stopped using it altogether in 2012/2013.

Used it a bit last month. But this month, I was of the mind to explore it more and see if there was money to be made.

The work available depends on where you’re based. For the UK, I found there was hardly any work. However, because I’m online a lot, and I’m a night owl too, I’ve been lucky to come across some work.

So far, I’ve made about $45.00 there this month, but I won’t receive any of what I’ve earned ’til March. I can wait.

So that’s me so far…

I’m half thinking it would be nice to get a $500 month this month. Will keep my eyes open for possible opportunities to do so, but not push too much. If I make $500 this month, great. If not, the month’s still shaping up OK.

I ultimately want to be making $1000 online a month. And more. I have debts to heal. I want them gone by the end of this year, if not completely, then significantly. But I want to do it my way in terms of how I earn; mostly flexible is important to me.

Laters, y’all…

Online Earnings: Nov/Dec 2014

I didn’t make as much as I did in Sept and Oct as I wrapped things up with my remaining clients. There are a few things I’ve been focusing on over the past couple of months – life projects. That’s also my focus for 2015.

I was gonna let this blog go, but with no buyers, it’s making me consider whether I want to let it float off into the ether. I’m leaning towards renewing it for another year. Not really sure how much I’ll update it. I’ll just leave it open and see.

With the year I’m planning, I’ve come to the conclusion I’ll be better suited to online gigs I can dip in and out of, that don’t have a deadline or a schedule. The other proofreading gig I mentioned months ago is therefore perfect for that. I can log on when I want, wait for work, do what comes up, reach minimum payout – get paid. If I can find one or two other gigs like that, that would be great.

Anyhoo, my earnings in November and December:

Nov 2014: $179.44…

 – Blog commenting: $95.80

 – Proofreading: $45.20

 – Transcript editing: $38.44

 – Gift Hunter Club (task-based site): $2.00

Dec 2014: $101.55…

(any figure in brackets means it’s the currency in which it was received. I convert that to dollars in the earnings breakdown as I get paid mostly in that currency, and because it makes it easier for me to add everything up.)

 – Transcript editing: $57.36

 – Proofreading: $18.50

 – Surveys: $15.41 (£9.92) (Pinecone Research, Crowdology)

 Clixsense: $8.07

 Swagbucks: $7.77 (£5.00)

 – Gift Hunter Club: $2.00

In total, I made just over $3000 in 2014, with most of it coming from blog commenting and proofreading work.

I don’t really know what 2015 holds for me re: online earning. I’ve spring cleaned – I don’t use any other GPT sites apart from Gift Hunter Club. The Clixsense payment I received in December was mostly from referral earnings. I reached the minimum payout for an Amazon gift card on Swagbucks and no longer use the site. And I have no remaining clients.

Like I said, what I would like is to get a couple more gigs similar to the proofing gig where I can just log on when I want and work when I can. That would really suit me this year. However, I’m not completely ruling out all other opportunities. I can be somewhat transient when it comes to interests – I wanna allow room for that.

I hope you have a faaaaaabulous 2015! In December 2015, I hope you look back and smile.

Selling This Blog and/or Domain: Serious Buyers Only

I’m ready to let go of this blog and the domain name. I let go a few months ago. It’s not where my interest lies anymore. I’m doing something else that’s really important to me.

The great part is that the blog’s ended on a high note. Not only did I hit a $500 month in September ($586.72), I also repeated it in October ($516.60). I’m happy about that as it had been years since I made that much online in a month. It’s a cool way to close the book.

If you’re interested in buying this blog and/or domain, get in touch with me:

All the best to you all for what’s left of the year, and have a great 2015 whatever you choose to do.

Craigslist Can Be a Good Place to Find Gigs… (Sometimes)

(img cred)

I haven’t used Craigslist to source gigs in a good good while because I never really had that much luck there. Off the top of my head, I think I only ever secured one or two.

A couple weeks’ back, my mind state was very much “Right. Mama’s going on some serious gig hunting. Where my basket at?”

So that’s where I was in my head when I went searching on Craigslist.

My CV had its lipstick on; it was ready. I combed through the site and applied for a handful of opportunities. As a result of that, I got a very quick one-off gig, and another continuing gig that’s made me just over $30 so far (update – 5th Jul: make that just under $60). Both happen to be in the realm of proofreading/light editing, which I’ve always enjoyed doing.

So, my faith in the site’s renewed – not restored, but renewed. I still take a lot of the opportunities I see there with a pinch of salt. My gut still knows which ones don’t deserve a look-in. But, going on the recent luck I’ve had there, I’ll be combing through it more often in the hopes I’ll come across more opps.

Aaaand on that note, guess where I’m off to? 🙂

First Clixsense Payment of the Month! (Jun)

I received it yesterday:

Really wanna buckle down and get more into Clixsense. I think I’m more or less done with Swagbucks for now. When I was really into using Swagbucks, the most I ever made in one month was £15.00. I can make more on Clixsense AND I have. January, I made $55.83. February, I made $35.55. March, I made $48.01. Took a break in April. Little time to use it in May, but made $17.74. And so far this month, I’ve made $13.67.

I want to narrow down and focus in.
