Online Earnings: April 2017

.
April didn’t go the way I hoped. Not only did it feel somewhat slow, but I found out the company I proofread for is closing down the middle of this month.

Proofreading is my major source of online income and I only worked with the one company (they had many clients I proofread for).

In my last post, I mentioned the risk of having one main income source, not knowing what was actually round the corner.

.
The other gig I got in February, where I was doing short tasks, has dried up. The few tasks that were available this month weren’t for me.

Been a busy three months. I’m more settled at home now. So the time leading up to mid month will be spent:

 – doing as much proofreading as I can before the company shuts down

 – paying more attention to a few sites I’m signed up to, but haven’t used as much

 – searching for new earning opportunities

I have to find a replacement by then, enough to be making at least $200 a month.

.
Considering the slow month I had in April, I did well – not as much as March, but better than January and February.

I made $226.77.

.
Breakdown:

 – Proofreading: $185.50

 – Short tasks: $28.81

 – Prolific Academic: $12.46 (£9.66)

.
Prolific Academic is one of the best survey sites I know. It’s up there with Pinecone Research. Run by doctorate students. Pays well. And the surveys aren’t please-put-me-out-of-my-misery boring either.

.
I hope I not only find a replacement, but do better than that.

The lesson in all of this is the blessing: don’t put all your bottles of wine in one cellar. 🙂

.
Wish me the luck of the Irish. May this month drop some juicy apples.

It’s Unwise to Only Have One Main Source of Income Online

.
(points at self)

(points at self again)

(almost pokes eye out in the process)

.
Proofreading accounts for most of my online income. And I only proofread on the one site. Though I’ve been working there a couple of years, at the back of my mind, I know that if the company I proofread for folds up, or decide they don’t want me on the job anymore for whatever reason, that’s most of my online income gone. Poof.

I don’t want my income to be that dependent. It’s not a baby.

Need to find an additional main egg or two, methinks. Don’t wanna spread myself thin, but two or three main (and fairly reliable/consistent) eggs would be good.

$30 A Day: Update 2

.
Compared to March, this month has been somewhat slow and uneventful. I’ve made $121.41 so far. My average has gone up a bit from $7.89 a day to $8.09 a day.

Tasks continue to be very dry on the ground with the second gig. Proofreading work has dried up a bit too. Of recent, it’s felt like it’s taken me longer to hit $10 there. I’ve had a few times when I’ve hit more than $10 in a day, but generally, the pace of workflow has felt slower. There’s also me still not syncing up my day with when the site’s busier, but that’s not that different from all the other times when I don’t!

It’s Easter weekend, so I expected things would be quieter. However, I managed to reach $10 yesterday (Saturday) and also the day before. I’m over halfway to reaching another $10. I’ll see if I can do that by the time I hit the sack tonight or by the end of Sunday morning. Ideally, I’d like to go into the rest of Sunday knowing there’s roughly $30 on its way to me soon. (Update: done!)

.
The rest of the month, I’ll be trying to get my ass up earlier so I can catch more work. I’m such a night owl. (cooo, cooo. flutter, flutter.)

$30 A Day: Update…

.
Short update:

So, in my last post, I mentioned my desire to have 30-dollar days online this month. I haven’t achieved it yet. However, it’s only been five days since my last post.

My average so far this month is $7.89/day. Few reasons why:

 – The extra gig I got in February has been relatively quiet this month.

 – I’m yet to get into the habit of being available for proofreading when there’s more work (I’m not a morning person).

 – Life.

.
There are, however, 20 days of the month left. 🙂

.
My plan is to focus on hitting one 30-dollar day this month. Let me get there first. Then if and when I do, I’ll move forward from there.

I’ll use this month as a test run.

Ideally, I want to be having mostly 30-dollar days by June. That’s the target I’m setting myself.

I’ll get there eventually.

I want to.

Plan for April: Beast mode

.
I’m gonna get straight to it.

I want to have 30-dollar days online and I want it to be the norm.

.
Last month was good – average of $12.43 a day. It was also good because I had an initial target in mind and I met it. I also almost met my second target, $400.

But as much as I’m happy about that, and proud, I feel/know I’m capable of earning much more than that if I organise and apply myself, especially when I’ve been earning online for a while now.

This month, I want to do better.

Few weeks ago, I was thinking to myself, “I should be having 50-dollar days.”

But, for now, $30’s what I’m aiming for.

I initially thought, “Let me aim for $20 a day”. Then I thought, “Go gentle. Aim for $15 a day”.

But today, I thought, “Fuck it. Let’s go for $30.”

.
Weekends are normally quiet online, so my plan is to aim for $30 a day on weekdays, and $10-$20 on weekends. In time, I’d like those weekends to be 30-dollar days too.

I want to get in that $30-a-day head space, but I’m fine if I don’t hit $30 on a few weekdays. This month, let me just prove to myself that I can:

a) achieve it

b) achieve it more than once

c) achieve it a few times

d) a handful of times.

…enough to know that, “OK, that wasn’t a one off.” “Nope, that wasn’t a dream.” “Yes, you don’ hit that $30 jackpot again…and again…and again.” “Oooh, you’re getting good at this, gurl.”

.
I expect it’ll be challenging as I’ve never aimed for that much online in a day, with that much consistency – but I figure it’s like a muscle; in time, it’ll get easier and take less time and energy. My brain will be like, “Eek!”, and I’ll be like, “Nah, boo, we’re cool. You and me. We got this.”

Or I’ll be the one saying, “Eek!” and my brain, in the voice of Dumbledore, will say, “I believe in you, Ebele of Ebeledom. Now, go. Slayeth. Badassify.”

.

Wish me luck.

Actually, don’t wish me luck.

Wish me energy. Wish me self belief. Wish me grrr’ness. Wish me Eye of the Tiger.

Thank you. 🙂

.
Here’s to an abundant April for us all. 🙂

Miss to the Eb, signing off.
